The PAV Telecoms Mandela Day Food Drive
The PAV Telecoms Mandela Day Food Drive was a way for us to follow his inspiring example. Mandela Day is all about giving your time – 67 minutes – to do something for others in a truly selfless way. There are an abundance of communities, groups and people who desperately need support in South Africa. The Alexandra Child Care Support Centre is certainly one of them as many children don’t receive more than one meal a day. PAV Telecoms sought to change that and assist where it could by running a food drive initiative.

Upon arrival, PAV Telecoms was certainly not short of hands. Everyone was willing and eager to help, carrying and organising the items which was mostly made up of non-perishable food, including fresh fruit and vegetables, canned items, rice, maize meal, pasta, tea, milk and so much more!
PAV’s Mandela Day food drive initiative was a success, bringing much needed supplies including, clothes, shoes, blankets and more to the children in the Alexandra Child Care Support Centre. PAV Telecoms management and staff worked together with the Crèche to make this year’s Mandela Day a special one for the children. The morning ended with the children each receiving their goodie bags that were filled with treats which quite literally made them dance and sing with joy!
It was an honour for PAV Telecoms to make this Mandela Day a memorable one for the children. Mandela Day is about making a difference, helping those less fortunate and making the world a better place. Nelson Mandela set the example and has since handed the torch to the rest of South Africa. It is up to the individual to keep his legacy alive and truly make a difference.
